This message re above group was sent me by another researcher. Will let you know if anything develops. We're just getting into the Gotchers: "On the Mary Gotcher who married William Gray, I do not know which one she is and have emailed another cousin who may be able to help. The William Gotcher Stanphill who married Sarah Cleveland was indeed the son of Vincent Stanphill and Anna Gotcher, as you surmised. The Daniel Pumphrey Stanphill who married Frances Cleveland, is son of William Gotcher Stanphill (s/o Vincent & Anna). Frances Cleveland is sister to Sarah Cleveland. And the P. Stanphill is brother to William Gotcher Stanphill and another son of Vincent and Anna. His name is Pomphritt or Pumphrey...you wouldn't believe how many ways it is written. And there is that name Pumphrey again, which leads me to think there is a connection to the Pumphrey or Pomphrit family that married into the Malone family in Caswell Co NC. So you can see, the Clevelands and the Sullingers intermarried frequently with the Stanphills. I had to draw up a chart to get it straight!!! My line is through Fanny Stanphill, first child of Vincent and Anna. Fanny married William Mitchell Malone. I also have a copy of one of the papers referred to by Linda where Pumphrey Stanphill and some others sought to get Indian land in OK."
Linda:Have you checked the 1860 USC Franklin co, AL pps 765 & 768?Stanphill indexed Staufield, but they're there:
