Yvonne:I have run into so many roadblocks, I've begun to think there is NO road there.I have this really old piece of paper that my grandmother wrote and on it she lists the names of some people:
I will type it just as she has written it:
Luke Stansbury son of Luke Stansbury (whose father was also name Luke Stansbury) and brother of Tobias Stansbury.
Luke Stansbury's sons were: John - who had one son, Luke, and two daughters, Martha and Amanda. Jim had one son, Henry, and one daughter (no name given. Dave was the father of Alic and Earl. Camuel Hass Stansbury's children mentioned below. Sisters or daughters were Amanda married a Mr. Treadway, no children. Narcissus
**Camuel H. Stansbury** was a tanner by trade, the father of two sons and 3 daughters: James Wiley John David Nannie is dead, died in Gordon Co., GA. Olie died in Lindale, GA. Hattied married G.M. James and isliving in Washington D.C.
James Wiley Stansbury was the father of 7 children: 1. Camuel Hass....with 3 brothers died in a mine exploson in Palos, AL on Mat 5, 1910. 2. John Richard 3. Earl (dead) 4. Fred (dead) 5. Robert (dead) Eugenia lives in Praco AL (Jefferson Co., AL) ((she passed away several years ago, 1995, or so)) Frances Eugenia lives in Praco, Jefferson Co., AL. Clara Gertrude,, lives in Birmingham, AL. (she is also dead)
**The only thing I can figure is that THIS Camuel H. Stansbury was actually Campbell Harrison.I happened upon this flash of revelation because I'd been assume that CAMUEL and CAMEL (as I had seen it spelled on various things) must have been SAMUEL.Then, in joking with by bro-in-law about being raised in Montgomery, AL, I said that I was grown before I realized that MONT-GOMERY was not spelled MUNGUMRY.I had seen the Campbell Harrison and thought, huh,bet those old country folk slurred the CAMP-BELL to you, know ole CAMUL that lives over by the whatyoucallit?
I've been in touch with Lisa Stansbury Workman on this board who has a wealth of information and have actually talked to her Dad and he was repeating some of the same "family" stories that I had heard over the years. Now that XMAS has passed, I can try to catch up and think you might be a real addition to our little circle.
Please e-mail me when you get the chance and I hope you had a wonderful holiday...
