Hi Diane, I will toss in my 2 cents. My grandmother was Gracie Belle Baugh, born in Gordon County, GA in Feb 1890 to Johanthan T. Baugh and Olivia W. Stansbury. Olivia and J. T. Baugh were married in Gordon County, GANov. 17, 1886. Sometime after 1900 and before 1904 the family moved to Lindale, (Floyd Co.), GA. Johathan died May 5, 1910, right after the 1910 census, Olivia died a year later, May 22, 1911. Both are buried at the Silver Creek Methodist Cemetery in Lindale.
From what I can gather, C.H. had remarried to Fannie Guinn sometime before 1874 as the daughter, Neattie S., born c1874, is listed as Fannie's daughter on the 1880 Gordon Co., GA census. C. H. is not there and Fannie is listed as widowed. John D., (born Jan 22, 1862, Jefferson Co., TN), Namie D. (born c 1865), Olivia W. (born June 27, 1868, TN) are listed as step-children.
A clue from my aunt helped some. She related a story to me about a trip she took as a young lady with my grandmother and her uncle to visit Uncle John Standbury in Dayton, TN. the visit was in regards to ongoing letigationof NY estate. My great uncle Grady Baugh communicated with "Uncle John" and I have copies of three of those letters.
"Uncle John D. Standsbury" died November 4, 1936. I have a copy of the death cert. On it C. H. Standsbury is listed as father and Nancy _____ is listed as mother, His occupation is listed as "retired Mine Supt."
Your information, including "Aunt Hattie" having gone to D.C., follows what I have here and in the letters (January 1932, February, 14, 1932, nad March 25, 1932.).
Keep in touch. BTW, I live a few miles from Sugar Valley, where the Standsburys and Baughs lived.
