Caleb Stansbury (c.17 Dec 1754 - 17 Nov 1845) was the son of John Stansbury (c.1710 - c.Sept 1785) and Anne Marie (Ensor) Stansbury (1714 - pre 18 Dec 1781). Caleb was married to Elizabeth (Shilling) Stansbury (c.1763 - 27 Feb 1831) on 4 Aug 1783 in Baltimore County, MD by Rev. Gerlock. Caleb lived in the Carrollton area of Carroll County, MD. He and Elizabeth are buried in Westminster Cemetery.
John Stansbury’s will states, “I give and bequeath to my loving son Caleb Stansbury his heirs and assigns forever, all that tract of land lying in the barrens, called Hogg Harbour, containing one hundred and twenty-three acres. But in case my Caleb Stansbury should die without issue lawfully begotten of his body, then the said land to descent to my son James Stansbury, and his heirs forever.
On 28 Mar 1789, Caleb Stansbury sold 123 acres of “Hogg Harbour” to Murray Shilling for 200 pounds. John Shilling was a witness to the deed. [Baltimore County Land Records Book DD, Folio 431]. On 8 July 1791, Caleb Stansbury bought 32 acres of “Mount Hope” from Murray Shilling for 25 pounds current money. On 28 July 1791, Caleb Stansbury bought 123 acres of “Hogg Harbour” from Murray Shilling for 200 pounds current money. [Baltimore County Land Records Book GG, Folios 462-465] “Hogg Harbour” is now in Carroll County.
On 11 June 1796, Caleb Stansbury and wife Elizabeth sold 123 acres of “Hogg Harbour” to John Brown for 300 pounds 10 shillings [Baltimore County Land Records Book WW, Folio 363].
This is not the same Caleb Stansbury (c.1760 - c.June 1846) who was 1st married to Rebecca (Cook) Stansbury on 31 Oct 1778 by Rev. Thomas Chase of St. Paul’s Parish in Baltimore, MD. Caleb was 2nd married to Mary Boring on 16 Sept 1815 by Rev. Choate. Caleb lived in the Reisterstown/Owings Mills area of Baltimore County, MD. I don't know who Caleb's father was. The executor of his will was his wife Mary. I don't know where Caleb and Mary are buried.
