As you may have seen by now, the Stepp/Stapp family has started a new website and a new DNA project. This tool is the proof we need to find the orgins of our ancestors. This project is moving fast; we already have 11 testees, three being from England...
Already 4 results have come in for our testees...but the problem is that none of those 4 results match up at all. This could be the result of a number of things: adoption, surname adaptation, infidelity, or even different/distinct families who carry the same surname.
Out of the 4 who tested, 3 claim Abraham Stapp Sr. of Rappahannock Co., VA as their ancestor. This means that there is a possibility that those testee are not actually descended from Abraham.
This is why we need your help!If you are confident that you descend from a certain line, it will be a very good idea to DNA test that line to make sure. You can see from the results already that this DNA project is changing quite a bit of what we know about the Stepp/Stapp ancestry.
But there is a good side to those four Stepp/Stapp's not matching. This gives us at least four, separate and distinct lines here in the U.S.So if you (if you are a male Stepp/Stapp) or one of your male Stepp/Stapp cousins decide to test, it will be entirely easier to match up with one certain line. This will tell you that you come from that line alone, and will solve the issue of having to look through all the different branches to figure which one you come from.
