Greetings, I wanted to let anyone interested know that I have just put two books of interest to Starbuck family members and other geneaological artifacts on auction at Ebay. One is a bible belonging to Emma Starbuck dated 1888 and the other is a copy of "First Tea Party in Nantucket" about the Starbuck family and signed by some Starbucks. I thought it would be nice for anyone researching their family to get these. You can see the items by going to Ebay and seaching for my dealer name "sabadotarde". It will bring up the whole list. Or you can search for your family name "Starbuck". The auctions end around May 16-17, 2006.
These items came in a box filled with items of genealogical interest concerning four families: the Sherburnes, the Starbucks, the Poulins, and the Cranes. All early American families particularly associated with Nantucket (the original name of the town was, in fact, Sherburne), Quincy and early Massachusetts. These items had all apparently been collected by a present-day descendant with the Sherburne name. I acquired these items at an auction in Milton, MA (near Quincy). The items include: a hand-written travel journal/diary of Charles H. Sherburne, dated 1870, written while in London on the grand Tour; early family bibles of the Sherburnes, Poulins, and Starbucks, a vintage genealogical history of the Cranes (1654-1894) published in 1893; and a gorgeous book entitled "The First Nantucket Tea party" beautifully illustrated by Walter Tittle telling the story of a certain Captain Morris sailing into Nantucket with the island's first tea and sailing away with a new wife from the Starbuck family. This book is signed by members of the Starbuck family. In looking through these items it quickly becomes clear that all four families are inter-related. For instance there are Sherburne names in the Poulin Bible, Sherburne names mentioned in the Crane family history, etc. So...a veritable treasure trove of original genealogical documents for anyone associated with these families.
