James King Steel, born Oct. 3rd, 1829 at Paisley, Renfrew shire, Scotland. James married in Paisley on 2 Jun 1853 to Janet Dougal, at which time he lived at 52 Caledonia Street and was a fisherman. James Steel died 23 Aug 1909 aged 80 and is buried at Paisley. He was in the 1891 census a retired fisherman and lived at a house called Wedderburn. His wife Janet Steel died 30 Mar 1906 aged 75. Their daughter Janet Sanderson Steel was born 7 Nov 1859 and died in infancy. According to the 1891 census James & Janet Steel had two other sons; James Steel aged 26 born 1865 a Master Fisherman and Robert Wedderburn Steel age 19 born 1872 a chemistry student. James King Steel born 1865 never married and died at Paisley 7 May 1921. In the 1901 census Robert Wedderburn Steel age 29, born 1872, was a chemist worker and married to a Christina Sharp. They had a 7 month old baby named James Steel. Robert and Christina Steel were married at Paisley in 1898. James King Steel born 4th Aug 1900 at Paisley son of Robert Wedderburn Steel.
