John and Abigail came from Canada in or around Quebec.About 1838 they migrated to Bangor, Franklin, New York per an application to become a citizen applied for by their son Frederick in the year 1852. John and Abilgail are then found having property in Crete, Will, Illinois in 1855/56 In 1856 Abilgail quit claims the property over to her son Frederick who has married Experience Bacon Harvey inBangor, New York.John Stienbarge died on April 3 1856.Abigail is then believe to have moved either to be with her daughter Elizabeth who married Oliver Harwood or Elizabeth went to join her mother sometime after 1856 to Hull, Sioux, Iowa.Frederick Hessalton is my direct line and this family branch spelled their name Steinberg.Though some of his documents have other various spellings. It is believe that John Stienbarge's father was a J. Wilhelm Steinberg or various spellings. Family lore is that J. Wilhelm came over to fight in the Revolutionary war.His father was a Barron from Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Wilhelm being the second son he was not entitled to anything so he decided to go fight with the British.
