I would appreciate any new information concerning the following Steinbergs who were in Memphis between 1885 and 1920:
Harry Steinberg- son of Edward and Johanna Steinberg. The parents were in Jackson, Mississippi in 1870, moved to Memphis, and Edward had died by 1880. Harry is son of Johanna, widowed, in that 1880 census. Johanna and a daughter are buried at Baron Hirsch Cemetery. What happened to Harry? No records except the 1880 census.
Morris Steinberg- appears in the Memphis city directory in the years 1885, 1886, 1901. Worked as news agt for the Memphis & Little Rock Railroad. Never on the census in TN, AR, or MO. at any time. The railroad had offices in Little Rock and St Louis. That's all I have for Morris except his street address in the 3 years. There are many Morris Steinbergs in NY after that, but I don't know if he went there. Morris would have been an adult by 1885.
Morris Leo Steinberg who married Ida Belle Ogletree in Memphis. No other records of his existence.
I have a lot of information for Samuel Steinberg and his wife and children. Immigrated 1897, moved to Memphis from Clarksville, Tennessee in 1909, owned S Steinberg and sons, furrier, etc. His family also buried in Baron Hirsch Cemetery. How is he possibly related to any of these other Steinberg families? Did Samuel's father immigrate to US? When?
I am most interested in any Steinbergs present in Memphis in 1887/1888 through 1900. I am trying to find the parents of a Steinberg born there in 1888.
