BIRTH-RESIDENCES-MILITARY: Obituary for grand-daughter Mary Eugenia Stell
Rutherford says he and wife both natives of GA. According to this obituary
he was a planter and teacher and served in the Florida and Cherokee Wars.
Came to Clark Co. about 1840 then to Pike Co. 3 years later.
Children were: Frances N. STELL, Andrew Armstrong STELL, Hiram T. STELL, Mary Ann STELL, Georgia Ann STELL.

Know all men by these presents that I Thomas Still of the State of South
Carolina, Barnwell District, in consideration of sixty dollars to me paid by
James Hughes of the State and district aforementioned have granted bargained
sold and released and by these presents do grant bargain sell and release
unto the said James Hughes a plantation or track of land containing sixty
acres situated lying and being in Barnwell District, formally Orangeburgh
District and state aforesaid on Toby Creek waters of the Big Saltcatchers.
Bounded all sides on vacant land at the time of said survey, it being part
of a track of land containing 200 acres granted to Charles Nix since
deceased, since conveyed by William Nix to Thomas Still and hath such
Shape and marks as appears by a plat thereof hereunto amended certified the
twenty eighth day of September one thousand seven hundred and eighty four
together with all and singular the rights members hereditaments and
apperturanus to said premises belonging or in any wise appertaining.To
have and to hold all and singular the premises before mentioned unto the
said James Hughes his heirs and assigns forever.And I do hereby bind
myself my heirs executors and administrators warrant and forever defer all
and singularthe said premises unto the said James Hughes his heirs and
assigns against myself and my heirs and against every person whomever
lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof.
Witness my hand this 20th day of November one thousand eight hundred and

and Samuel Still in the presence of each other witnessed the due execution
of the same.

Thomas Still of the state and district aforesaid in consideration of sixty
dollars to me in hand paid by Nicholas Hutto of the district aforesaid have
granted bargained sold and by these presents do grant bargain sell and
release unto the said Nicholas Hutto all that track of land containing one
hundred acres more or less situated lying and being in same with
District on the waters of little Saltkahatchie bound as follows being at a
pine corner on Mary Sanders line running running along a line of blazes to
the Jacob Bay binding on east by C.D. Allen's land on the North by Daniel
Hartzog and Gabriel (_?_) lands and Thomas Still's land on the West and
south by Mary Sanders land with all and singular the rights members here
(alignment) and appertains to said premises belonging or on any (_?_)
incident appertaining to have and to hold all and singular the premises
before mentioned unto the said Nicholas Hutto his heirs and assigns against
my heirs and assigns and against all other persons lawfully claiming or to
claim the same or any part thereof whereas I have here unto set my hand and

joining land of Charles Still on the South and O. Haygood on the West to
Benjamin Way North together with all and singular the rights, members,
hereditaments and appertenanus to the said premises belonging or in any wise
