Hello John, I am so sorry to have taken so long to write back to you but we have been on holiday in France. It seems that we do have a connection - Jane Stell's brother Thomas was my GGGG Grandfather, therefore we share the same GGGGG Grandparents, James Stell b. 1735 who married Jane Charl(e)ton.
All my Stell family came from the Northumberland/Durham area.My father was born in Hazelrigg in 1910, he married my mother who came from Lancashire and I was born as only child in Oldham, Lancashire.
Along the way I have found possible connections to Yorkshire but I haven't been able to verify. There are also a lot of Stell families in the United States.
On my family tree which I have via Genesreunited I do have Jane as marrying John Smith but because of this being such a common name I didn't go any further.
Could you possibly fill me in on your connection to Jane via your ancestors?I would really appreciate anything you can help me with concerning the Stell's as I came to a full stop when I got as far as James Stell (b.1735)and his wife Jane Charl(e)ton and their children.
Where do you live?I am in Holland, since 1970.I married a Dutchman.I do hope to hear from you again John, Bye for now and regards from, Denise
