Randolph Malone, author of two Malone genealogies, has just passed to me the Malone and Allied Families responsibilities, including notes regarding the Stells from a Stell researcher, Albert Stell.I am just beginning to wade through the research and see what I have, and begin to see what I can add and share.I also have books to sell. I had asked Randy last week, when I took over possession of his notes and books, if he knew of any Stell park or other place in Effingham Co., Ga. and he said he had heard that but could not offhand recall this.I am sure I saw reference to a Stell park, etc. off US 17 and US 204 right outside Savannah.I will look it up and see what I can find regarding this as it fits your story. William Malone of Newberry went into Georgia and his son, John d. 1809 in Clarke Co., Ga. had a store in Jackson and Clarke Co., Ga. with a Smith and the Hamptons to whom two of his children intermarried with (son William with a Sarah Hampton and daughter Joicey with a John Hampton). They resided also in Jackson Co., Ga. but believe daughter lived in Clarke Co., Ga.--his daughter married a Johnson also.
william Malone's grandson,Robert Malone (ason of his dec'd son John(d. 1809 seventeen years before his father) and this grandson, Robert Malone had stores in Savannah, and Augusta and appeared also to be a cotton merchant. Robert Malone, the grandson, married a Nancy Haynie Rutherford.Robert's grandmother (1st wife of William d. 1826 was a Lucy Rutherford-d/o Robert Rutherford and Dorothy Brooks Rutherford.
Some of the Stell's went into Gwinnett Co., Ga. then into Arkansas. If anyone has any questions, let me know. Many say Susannah Malone was born in Pa. and I am looking for proof of this also.
