I am looking for help with the STEPP families I have found in my Justus family research.
I am researching the family of A. M. Justus, s/o John C and Rachel Justus/Justice.Asbury (Asberry?) M Justus was the father of Cora Jane Justus Ross, he died in her home in Claremore, Rogers Co., OK in 1928.Cora Jane married George F Ross and they had one child, Viola Ross who married my dad's brother, Hubert Hansird "Chick" House.I have found Aunt Viola in the 1910 census, she was born 20 Sept 1901 in Rogers Co., OK and married my uncle at Bartlesville, OK in 1922 with place of residence for both of them, Claremore, OK.She is in the 1930 Coffeyville, Montgomery Co., KS census married, cannot find her in 1920 census. We have not been able to find her parents, George F and Cora Jane Justus Ross in the 1920 or 1930 census.Cora Jane Justus Ross died in 1932 and is buried in the Woodlawn cemetery where A. M.'s obit says he was buried. They only have funeral records back to Sept 1928 and he died Aug 24th, 1928. I have found a curious thing about the STEPP family.I thought at first that Nancy A. STEPP who married Asberry M Justus first was maybe from the family of J. T. Stepp who was living in Henderson Co., NC in 1870.Now I have changed my mind for this reason. I just recenty received three marriages from Greene Co., MO. 1.Asberry M Justice (spelling in 1870 census was Justice) of Greene Co., MO married Nancy A STEPP of Greene Co., MO at the residence of G. STEPP in said county 6th day of September 1874.Their daughter, Cora Jane was born 25th of Jan 1876.I am now "thinking" that G. STEPP might be father of Nancy A STEPP??? 2.J. H. Justice of Greene Co., MO married C C Beck of Greene Co., at the residence of J. Justice, 15th February, 1877.Witnesses were J. Justice and G. STEPP. Could this be Catherine Beck, d/o Susan A STEPP Beck Justus??Did he then remarry before 1900 Indian Territory Cherokee Twp census where he is with wife, Sarah. 3.Green (Greene) County, Mo. Mar 15th 1872 This is to certify that the rights of matrimony was Solemnized between B. M. Justice and Mifs H. A. Beck all of this county by Rev'd H. J. Maicoat???? hard to read.Filed May 14th, 1872(This would be Harriet, first wife of Branch M Justus) Another interesting thing I have found is that Cread (Creed) C Justus was widowed in the 1900 Indian Territory Cherokee Twp census 4 children all born in IT.Living two homes from him is Mamie E. Lawrence b KS 1875 (husband Edward) no children but living with them is Jane N STEPP, grandmother b 1829 in NC NC NC.In the 1910 census Jane STEPP 81 wd is living with Cread C. Justus and is shown as mother-in-law.Do any of you know what STEPP family she if from??Does anyone know who the STEPP was that Cread C Justus married?
