Recently purchased on eBay from a seller in Pennsylvania . . .
Teacher's License issued to Dayse Pearl Stitt of Monticello, Indiana, issued May 30, 1903.This license was issued for 24 months, and was signed by Henry J. Reid, County Superintendent of White Co., Indiana.The front of the certificate reads as follows:
"This certifies that Dayse Pearl Stitt having presented satisfactory evidence of good moral character and having been duly examined is found to possess a knowledge which is sufficient to enable her successfully to teach in the Common Schools of the State, Orthography, Reading, Writing, Arithmetic, Geography, English, Grammar, Physiology, U.S History, Literature, Scientific Temperance, Theory and Music and to govern a School, is hereby licensed to teach in the Public Schools of this County for the term of 24 months from this date."
The back of the certificate list the grades Ms. Stitt obtained in each of the subjects mentioned above in order prove her scholarship to be a teacher and be granted a license.
