David Stitzer VA>KY
David Stitzer, son of William, was born about 1812 in VA.He married Sarah Waller in Orange Co., VA in 1842.Children included James W., Harriet A., Sarah W. Edmund, Elizabeth, David, Marshall, and Lydia.Sarah died in Jefferson Co., KY in 1860, perhaps in child birth.
I have wondered if they went or followed the Traveling Church to KY as I noted that a Waller was among those going with this group.
David appears as an overseer on the 1850 Orange VA Census; but in 1860 he and his family show up on the Middletown, Jefferson Co., KY Census as an overseer. That same census indicates that two of his children were born in KY.Marshal age 6 and Lydia age 3.
In 1870, D Stizer apears in Spring Dale, Jefferson Co., KY
1900, David is listed in Louisville City KY.I believe this is the child David listed on earlier census records. He was born in VA as were his parents, and his wife, Maggie.
Their children include, Flora C., Oscar B., Mattie, George K., Agnes, Julia, and David M.
David and Maggie (Margaret) are transcribed as Kitzer on the 1910 Census for Fayette, Lexington, KY.Apparently Mattie (Martha) married a Newton as she is listed as Mattie J P Newton with son, David D Newton age 3yr 5 mos. and living with her parents in 1920 in Louisville KY.
I would love to hear from anyone in this family or who is researching them.
