Hi Phil,
We have talked before. My St.Johns lived in Brock Township, Ontario. This is north of Toronto, then my particular line went to Riley, KA and then to west of Mt Pleasant, MI by 1882 or so.The FamilySearch site doesn't allow a general sort of search with out primary names so I have gotten into a habit of looking at households in that 1880 census to check on neighbors.Didn't know if you had tried that.My main lines are brothers Phillip and George St John from out of the 1790s Rathkeal, IRELAND.Prior to that, the line is believed to have come from the Palatine region of Germany and likely was surnamed Sohn or Son.This was about 1700.The name Sylvester doesn't show up anywhere that I am familiar with.I did notice a White family in that neighborhood, another that is tied closely to my own.
