My name is Sue (Bill's wife) and researching this very point of exactly which Ann Stockley was married to Henry Towles. Here is my theory after much research into the records and wills, etc.: There were at least two brothers to begin with, John and Francis. There was a possible 3rd brother Woodman.I am finding references to both John and Francis having daughters named Ann.In the will of Francis, dated Dec. 12, 1655, proved January 28, 155/6, mentions wife, daughters Frances and Ann, son John, brother John and his (John's) son William. The daughter Ann married Henry Towles, VA Mag., vol 8, p320. In another reference, Henry's wife is referred to as "Elizabeth."That would not be unusual. If cousins are both named Ann, it would be best to distinguish the two apart by using a second name.My own daughter, for instance, is Elizabeth Ann.I'm getting tired right now, but somewhere I saw that the birth dates of the "two" Anns were enough different to make me think we were not talking about the same Ann.What does anyone else have to say?????
