Mr. Alexander, Do you know if Rigg family ever went by the name of Riggs? I have cousins with identical DNA named Colvard formerly from Wilkes Co., NC, and they moved from NC to Hardeman Co., TN in 1820's with Riggs, Bailey, Dunaway, Cody, Ross, and Gage families of Rutherford Co., NC.John Riggs married Rebecca Colvard on 2 May 1829 in Hardeman Co.
The Colvard's also went by the name Calvert and Colbert. They were descendants of Christopher and Elinor Calvert of Accomack Co., VA.He arrived in Accomack in 1636 and lived next to the Stockley's.One year after Christopher died (1682), Woodman Stockley bought his home on Onancock Creek.Christopher owned the land that became Scarbugh Town and later changed to Onancock. The Stockley's (in particular Woodman Stockley), was closely associated with Christopher's sons and Garrett Sipple (son-in-law of Christopher Calvert).
Some of the Stockley moved to Delaware and PA.One of the Governor's of Delaware was a Stockley.
John Stockley Colvard, formerly of NC, moved to Georgia and raised his family.
