Susan, I am not sure if this is a connection but it is close. My wife's ggf, Thomas Benton Stockstill, b. 2-20-1839, d. 2-21-1917, lived in and around western MO and southern KS, specifically Medicine Lodge, KS, Barbor Co., KS, and Independence, MO, most of his life. He was buried in Sharon, KS. He was preparing to board a train to visit family in OK when he was killed by an oncoming train. He was very hearing impaired, according to the obit. He was a courier, guide and wagon master who reportedly made 64 round trips from Independence, MO, to Salt Lake City, UT, beginning as a teen-ager. We don't have any info regarding his parents or siblings, other than a brother, B. Stockstill, mentioned in his obit. We do have a great deal of info about his descendants. Please e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org for further exchange of info. Thanks.
