The January-February 2013 issue of ANTIQUES magazine on p. 53 pictures in an advertisement two excellent portraits of Ashbel Stoddard (1763-1840) & his wife Patricia Bolles Stoddard (1762-1841) of Hudson, NY. The portraits were probably painted in 1812 or 1813. Ashbel was probably the first printer and publisher of a newspaper in Hudson.
In case you can no longer purchase a copy of this issue or are unable to find it in your local public library (remember to take along your camera), I am scanning these portraits for any of their family descendants and researchers who might like copies sent freely by email. Just imagine if there were portraits in existenceof your ancestors before the age of photography, and you did not know of it. That would, indeed, be a very great shame and injustice, which is why I’m scanning these portraits and posting about them. Someone in the family ought to have a copy of these fine portraits.

If they were portraits of a 19th century Pease family in my line, I'd certainly hope someone would do the same for me. Call it a simple, but appropriate, genealogy good deed.
