I started doing some work on STONEHOUSE because a relative of mine married a relative of yours.I got carried away and now have a ton of info on STONEHOUSE families starting with the same 3 sons of Henry.
One major question:You say that your great-grandmother married Albert E Adshade in 1897.However, in the following 2 obituaries for their daughters Susan & Annie, the family surname is LOWTHER. ???
MATTINSON, Susan - 93, Mount Pleasant Lodge, Mount Pleasant, Cumberland County, formerly of Beckwith, Cumberland County, died May 3, 1994, in All Saints Hospital, Springhill. Born in West Leicester, Cumberland County, she was a daughter of the late Albert Eldridge and Mary Jane (Stonehouse) Lowther. She was a member of Beck- with United Baptist Church and Beckwith WMS. She is survived by a daughter, Ethel (Mrs. Lorne Wood), Lake Killarney, Cumberland County; sister, Mrs Annie McEachern, Aulac, N.B.; brother, Elvie, West Leicester; 11 grandchildren; 27 great- grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Corey; two sons, Wilfred Corey, John Albert; three sisters, Helen, Evelyn Adshade, Ruby Boyles; four brothers, Robert (Robbie), Albert, John, Norman; grandson, Lynton Corey Mattinson. Visitation will be this evening in Allen's Funeral Home, Oxford, where funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, Rev. Blair Holden officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Oxford. MacEACHERN, Annie Elizabeth - 98, Port Elgin, N.B., formerly of Little Forks and Mansfield, Cumberland Co., died November 9, 1995, at Westford Nursing Home, Port Elgin, where she had resided for the past three years. Born in Millville, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Mary (Stonehouse) Lowther. She resided most of her married life in Little Forks before moving to Mansfield for a number of years. At about 1984 she moved to Port Elgin to reside with her daughter, until she entered the nursing home. She was a former member of Athol United Church and always took an active part in community affairs in both Little Forks and Mansfield. Surviving are a daughter, Flora (Mrs. Wyman Thomas), Port Elgin; sons, Carl, Little Forks; Angus, Amherst; brother, Elvie, East Leicester; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren. She
was predeceased by her husband, John A.; son, Douglas; granddaughter, Colleen; sisters, Susan Mattinson, Evelyn Adshade, Ruby Boyles, Helen; brothers, Albert, John, Robert, Norman.
