I received this information from a Steinkoenig in Germany as a response to my request concerning any record of a Jacob who immigrated around 1747. I supplied the Jacob Steinkoenig - Anna Barbara Schenckels names which I had received from someone else.
"The names and dates you sent me, I had found at the churchbook of Edenkoben. 30 miles southern Mutterstadt. All the 5 children were born in Edenkoben. In the marriage record, I found out that Jacob was a shoemaker from Ruchheim. Ruchheim is the neighbor town from Mutterstadt.
"Now information from the chruchbook Ruchheim: Jacob Steinkoenig, shoemaker is born March 31, 1714 at Ruchheim. He and his wife Anna Barbara Schenckels from Edenkoben have a son named Abraham born August 6, 1749 in Ruchheim. Abraham died Oct 1, 1749. Anna Barbara dies only 35 years old, August 14, 1749. 9 days after the birth of Abraham. Jacob, the shoemaker marriaged December 3, 1749 Susanna Margarethe Offner. They had 5 children, all born in Ruchheim between 1751 and 1757. In the birth record of his last son Peter, born January 1757, we can read that Jacob was death. His daughter Sara, born December 17, 1753 and died May 1812 in Ruchheim. You see, there is no information about the emigration of this Jacob Steinkoenig and his wife Anna Barbara or Maria Barbara Schenckels. (Both first given names are correct)
"But now, I will tell you something about Jacob Steinkoenig, a farmer from Mutterstadt. He is born July 10, 1707 at Mutterstadt. His father Hans Peter was the brother of the father from Jacob the shoemaker. Jacob the farmer marriaged 1729 and he had 8 children, born between 1731 and 1746. In the churchbooks at Mutterstadt, we didn't find any information about Jacob the farmer and his family after the birth of his last child, June 14, 1746. Nobody dies or marriaged after this date.
"In an old book from the Biebinger family, we can read many information about the life and traditional in Mutterstadt, in the middle of 18. century. In this book I read that Jacob Steinkoenig, the farmer sale his house and land 1747 to Johann Jacob Biebinger. This is the absolutly last information about Jacob and his family in Germany.
"I think, the man who came with the ship Bilander Vernon to America, is Jacob Steinkoenig from Mutterstadt and not Jacob the shoemaker..."
