Martha Stratton, a daughter of a John Stratton, married a Samuel A. Davidson in Campbell Co., VA in 1831.There is a pretty good chance that this Samuel A. Davidson was a son of Alexander Davidson "II" and his first wife Agnes Crews (daughter of Issac Crews)....though there is also another possibilty that I will not attempt to address here.
The above Alexander Davidson "II" was a son of Alexander Davidson "I" and his wife Elizabeth (MAYBE Elizabeth Steele, per some good clues).Alexander Davidson "I" was in the Albemarle/Buckingham Co., VA area in the 1750s-1760s, and he was then in the Bedford/Campbell Co., VA area by the 1770s (and Alexander Davidson "I" died around 1800 in Campbell Co., VA, leaving a will).
You can find the above-referenced Alexander Davidson "II" on the 1820 Campbell Co., VA census, and you can find the above-referenced Samuel A. Davidson and his wife Martha Stratton on the 1860 Davidson Co., TN census....and their children who were still in the home at that time were shown as California Davidson (age 10) and Charles H. Davidson (age 7).Some members of both the Graves and the Hughes families of VA were also living with the Davidsons.
Alexander Davidson "I" and his wife Elizabeth also had another son who was also named Samuel Davidson. That older Samuel Davidson married Elizabeth Thornhill, and they had a son who was named Jesse Thornhill Davidson.Jesse and his wife had a son who was named Thomas O. Davidson, and Thomas married a women in 1880 who was named Emma M. Stratton.
Do you know the lineage (and wife) of the referenced John Stratton who was the father of the above Martha Stratton?Do you know the lineage of the above Emma M. Stratton who married Thomas O. Davidson in 1880 (I would have to check my notes, but that marriage in 1880 was probably in either Appomattox or Campbell Co., VA)?Thanks!
