Seeking information on Charles STRAUB, about whom I've found some scanty information in Volume 1 of the Broderbund "World Family Trees"...
Charles is said to have married in 1854 to Rachael HOUK (b. 1834, Germany). They are said to have had a son, George STRAUB (b. ca. 1855), then Charles is said to have died in 1856.
Rachel married second to John ROTH.I do find them in the 1860 census of Butler Twp., Butler Co., IA (p. 708).They have a newborn son, John G. ROTH.Also living with them is a Chas. W. STROP (æ 4, b. IA).Did the enumerator err?Should the boy be George, not Charles?Or is the WFT wrong?
In the 1870 census of Butler Twp., Butler Co., IA (p. 649B), we again find John & Rachel ROTH, but no son Charles (or George) STRAUB/STROUP/STROP.
Does anyone know who the husband, Charles STRAUB, is?That is, who his parents were? Was the son named George or Charles?Does anyone know the fate of son George/Charles?
