Sorry, I didn't get the normal email notification that you had posted something in response to my earlier message.
The 1860 census entry is very interesting and answers a number of questions about Margaret.Thanks for pointing me to it.
Yes, I'm sure that the "John L. Tombaugh" on the census is John Levi Tombaugh.
I'd like to think that we might find an obituary for Margaret, and perhaps we will be able to do so now that the death date (22 Sept 1862) is known.Unfortunately, at that time the papers were obsessed, understandably, with news about the Civil War.But I did find an excellent obituary published little more than a year later on another ancestor (who was not a casualty of the war) in a weekly paper in a small county in Ohio, so there's a chance.
