Birthdates given are from the census.
Samuel and Ann were married in Runcorn in 1868.
The family later moved to Manchester. He became a Lay Preacher for the Primitive Methodist church. It is believed he died in the 1920's. Unknown when Ann died.
Samuel Pope Jr. was my grandfather.
I found the previously-mentioned origin of the Stretch name to be very interesting. I wondered if maybe the words 'strict' and 'strait' may have come from the same root?
