Hi Tom, we have Strettles in our family tree. They came from Ireland but originally from Cheshire England.I have only been able to go back as far as Edmund Strettle born about 1570, I am wondering if you have any information regarding him.Who he was married to and his parents names. Our link to the Strettles is Abraham Strettle born in Cork Ireland in about 1814 and married Mary Finina Sullivan in 1835.They came to Australia in 1852 and were very successful here.I dont think they were Quakers here in Australia. From what I have found out so far Abraham had 2 illegitimate children with his housekeeper and I think that would have cast him out of the fold. They had relatives in America as Abrahams brother and sister lived there.I think they were also related to Robert Strettell of Philadelphia.I am presently trying to find where Abraham is buried in America. He was on holiday and died on board the ship the Habsburg 2 days out of New York in 1876.Any suggestions there?I find the family very interesting and would appreciate any Strettle information. Regards Bronwyn.
