I have Alvin & Margaret's census records from 1910, 1920, and 1930.Based on them, they had these children, all born in Gurdon, Missouri Twp., Clark Co., AR (and you are correct that they had four boys and two girls):
1.Edgar S. STROOPE, b. 1901/2 2.William Elbert STROOPE, b. 1903/4 3.Donald A. STROOPE, b. 1905/6 4.Thomas STROOPE, b. 1911/2 5.Mary "Molly" STROOPE, b. 1917/8 6.Martha STROOPE, b. Aug 1919
Alvin's middle initial is "L."Do you know his middle name?
Alvin's father is said to be Alfred Jacob STROOPE, son of George Madison STROOPE & Jane MOSLEY.I'm still working on his STROOPE line, but so far, the many STROOPEs in Clark Co., AR, all appear to be descendants of one progenitor:William STRUB, born 1699/1700, Kurpfalz, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, who immigrated to Philadelphia, arriving on 30 Aug 1737 on the ship "Samuel" out of Rotterdam. The family settled in Frederick Co., VA, then descendants moved on to West Virginia and others to Louisiana, then Texas and Arkansas.
I ran into a snag with regard to Margaret Ann "Maggie" THOMAS because, in the 1900 census of Clark Co., AR, while we do find her living with (Thomas) Abraham THOMAS and his third wife (Nancy) Parlee, Maggie is listed last and labeled "Niece."This may be enumerator error, but it does raise the question as to whether Thomas Abraham is her father or her uncle.
What I have on these families is online at my web site in the form of linked family group sheets, which you can hook into from Alvin & Maggie's page:
