Hi Marilyn - this is great! But you may want to check your records on this Gideon "Bowie". We've done extensive professional research on the Bowley clan and I can provide you with lots on them.Anyway, we have Gideon Bowley marrying Hannah Strout on December 22, 1767 at Falmouth, Cumberland, Maine (where we have her being born in 1747).
Gideon and Hannah had the following kids: 1) Gideon Jr (1770 - 1848) 2) Joseph (my line)(1772-1843)**see below** 3) Oliver (1774-1824) 4) Patience (1776-1846) 5) John (1779 - 1849) 6) William (1782- after 1840) 7) Benjamin (1785??)
The 2nd child, Joseph, married Lydia Spearin(g) circa 1806 and had 3 daughters:
1) Fanny (1807-?) married Hanson Church in 1826 2) Mary S. "Polly" (1809-?) married Charles Littlefield 3) Amy Kendall (1812-1865) married Joshua Moody in 1829, son of Joshua Moody & Lucy Stevens (this line goes straight back to William Moody who emigrated from England in 1634)****this is my line****
Amy Kendall Bowley married Joshua Moody in Hartland, Maine and had 5 children (all born in Hartland. The first child, Hannah, died as a teenager, the remaining 4 children emigrated from Maine to British Columbia in the 1860's.
Amy, her daughter Hannah, and Amy's parents and grandparents are all buried at Fuller Corner Cemetery in Hartland.
Gideon Bowley, was a son of Oliver Bowley (b. 1726 in Newbury, Mass) and Anna Weed. And Oliver Bowley was a son of John Bowley of Newbury and Hannah Hadlock. The Bowley line goes back to John Bowley who was born in Roxbury, Mass in 1636.
As an aside, after Hannah Strout's first husband, Gideon Bowley died, she remarried a man by the name of Joseph Storer circa 1822 (given her age at the time, it is very doubtful that she had any children by him).
