FRANKLIN - Alicia Young, 96, formerly of 21 Manson Ave. in Kittery, Maine, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at the Mountain Ridge Nursing Health Center following a period of failing health.
Born July 31, 1908, in Old Town, Maine, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Flora (Storer) Strout. She attended the Hampton Academy in Hampton and was a graduate of the School of Nursing in Elizabeth, N.J. She had worked with her sister in the Rochester Visiting Nurse program until her marriage. She then worked with her husband for 21 years at their business, Hampton Auto Electric, in North Hampton. She had lived in Kittery Point, Maine, from 1947 until the summer of 2004. She was a member of the Kittery Point Congregational Church and taught Sunday school there for many years. She was active in many area clubs and enjoyed taking trips on the senior bus tours.
Members of her family include two brothers, Andrew Strout of Franklin and Stanley Strout of Northfield; a sister, Nellie Massingham of Rochester; and several nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and -nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harold L. Young, in 1966; two brothers, Irving Strout Sr. and Carroll L. Strout; and three sisters, Celia Young, Thelma Constantino and Eleanor Towle.
Family and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the R.M. Edgerly and Son Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St., Rochester. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will take place at the Rochester Cemetery in the spring
