My gggg-grandmother was Jane Stuart, and family lore indicates she was "of a high degree" - possibly "royalty" (I know, everyone says that) - and was disowned for marrying Isaac Holland of Annapolis, an American Revolution drummer boy (for the American side) and a carpenter thereafter. One thing we do know is that she was a "cousin" of Sarah Scott Murray, daughter of Dr. James Murray. Sarah married Col. Edward Lloyd (who indeed was of a high degree, having even been governor of Maryland in 1809). I'm having trouble proving a connection between the Stuarts and the Murrays before 1854, where a marriage connected Stuarts, Murrays, Keys (as in Francis Scott Key), Lloyds and Calverts. My ggg-grandmother Kitty Holland went to live with the Lloyds after her mother's death around 1811, and before her marriage to Joseph Andrew Barrett.
Does anyone know of a Steuart or Stuart or Stewart connection in Maryland with the Annapolis Murrays in the 1700s?
