From the book The Exile by Pearl S. Buck I have gleaned the following info.Hermanus Stulting was bor 5 Oct 1816 in Utrecht, Netherlands he married Johanna Sonnicus 18 mar 1840.I have Johanna bor 17 Jun 1816 I believe she was born in Paris. She died 9 Dec 1876 in Hillsboro, Pocahontas, West Virginia.Hermanus died 30 Sep 1905 also in Hillsboro.
Hermanus was the youngest son, his parents had 2 older sons, then several children who died young, then Hermanus came along.Johann and Hulda both died around 1858 in Hillsboro.
Hermanus and Johanna had Cornelius in Utrecht, they then moved to West Virginia where the rest of the children were born. I understand they had 3 daughters one was Arnolda Dorchie b. 20 sep 1846 died 21 dec 1937. Then Calvin Luther, he went by Luther b. 23 apr 1855 Hillsboro died 17 Oct 1929.Then Caroline Maude (Carie) b. 9 Mar 1857 died 21 Oct 1921 in China. Then a daughter Greta Elizabeth 16 Jul 1861 she died 7 May 1956.It is stated that Cornelius was married well after the Civil War and that his oldest and youngest sisters never married.
Carie married Andrew Stone, his parents came from near the Green Brier River, I believe in Kentucky. They had 7 sons and 2 daughters.Carie was 23 when she married and shortly afterwards went to China as a missionary. They returned a few times to visit family and Pearl S. Buck was born in West Virginia in the family home.
