I am searching for information about the parents of John Foxhall Sturman (1838-1914), bon in Virginia. JFS moved to Augusta, GA after the Civil War.His obit follows.
Obit:"MR. JOHN STURMAN DIED EARLY SUNDAY. Was 76 Years of Age and formerly in Dry Good Business Here.Funeral Today. After suffering from feeble health for several months, Mr. John Sturman, 76 years old, passed away at his home on Ellis Street early Sunday morning. The funeral was conducted from the First Baptist church at 11 o'clock this morning.Rev. G. Sherwood Whitney of the St. Paul's Episcol church, officiating.The interment was made at the City Cemetery. The deceased was born March 21, 1838 at Baltimore, MD.At the beginning of the Civil War he enlisted as first lieutenant in Company C, Second Maryland, under Captain Ross.He was for the most time in the army of Northern Virginia. Mr. Sturman, at the close of the war, came to this city where he was connected with his uncle, Mr. E. B. Long, in the wholesale dry goods business.On September 23, 1869 he was married to Miss Bettie Hard, daughter of a Baptist minister. He is survived by his five sons, Messrs, W. H., J.F.Jr, E. W., and E(J).N.Sturman, of Augusta, and E. B. Sturman of Manila, P. I, and also one sisters, Mrs. M. J. Nolley of Baltimore."
