The Thomas Sturman who sold land to Bryant Murphy in 1707 was the half-brother of Bryant's wife Elizabeth Sturman. This Thomas Sturman was born c1676. The ages don't seem to work out for him to have had a daughter named Mary who could've married Capt. Miles and then Bryant Murphy. Elizabeth Sturman married before 1702. This leaves just 26 years between Thomas' birth and when his supposed daughter married for a second time! Even if he had Mary as his first child as early as age 16, Mary would've been only 10 years old in 1702, when you say that Mary (Sturman) Miles Murphy had been married twice. I don't mean to sound argumentative, but what is your proof that Mary (--) Miles Murphy was a Sturman, and more specifically that she was a daughter of a Thomas Sturman? With the exception of the original Thomas Sturman who died c1651 and the one mentioned above who was born c1676, there are no other Thomas Sturmans who were born before Mary (--) Miles Murphy, unless I've REALLY missed something in all those years I've spent in the Virginia State Archives! ;)
