Thanks for the excellent rundown on the family of Ralph Surratt. It realy is a pleasure to meet someone who enjoys chasing down the story of the lives of people who are long gone.Chasing then down not for genealogy, but to keep their life and accomplishments alive.
It also gives me some vicarious pleasure that one of my distant cousins was so successful in her chosen life.
I'm not surprised that she let religion assume such a major part of her being. The descendants of John and Barbara (Bowman) Hunter run long on preachers and teachers. Through my family history studies, including thousands of people, I've come across only 2-3 lawyers, but many doctors, teachers, preachers, and persons of a scientific bent, but almost no lawyers.Interesting.
I would be most interested in whatever dates and places you may have on the family and descendants of Ralph and Anna.
One point should be made.In 1884 Ralph was still in Owensville where he was the Marshall. This means thay Valeska and Leah were both probably born there assuming 1882 and 1884 as their birth dates. This means that the Leah remembering Valeska as aged 4 when they moved to Terre Haute is probably correct.
