I'm looking for information on the following persons appearing on the 1850 census in Chester, South Carolina. However, the surname is spelled "Swet" on the census but have reason to believe it should be Sweat or Sweet.
Moses Sweat - Male, Head of household, father, age 43, born 1807. Anna Sweat - Female, Wife, mother, age 43, born 1807. Mary Sweat - Female, Daughter, age 20, born 1830. (This is the person I am researching to determine her family of origin. I believe her to be the wife of Charles Elihu Kitchens who fought in the Civil War. She was the mother of 9 children with the Kitchens surname.) Lethe Sweat - Female, Daughter, age 16, born 1834. Hannah Sweat - Female, Daughter, age 12, born 1838. Reginer Sweat - Female, Daughter, age 9, born 1841. Ishna Sweat - Male, Son, age 7, born 1843. Jane Sweat - Female, Daughter, age 5, born 1845.
Charles Elihu Kitchens and Mary Sweat Kitchens are buried at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery on Neal Shoals Road in Union County,SC.However, the 1850, 1860, 1870, and 1880 U. S. censuses show them living in Chester County--Baton Rouge, Chalkville Post Offices is where they were enumerated.
