This Joseph SWINNERTON / SWINERTON of VT is well documented.Josephwas b. 5 Oct. 1761 Salem Village (now Danvers), Essex Co., MA; md. Lucy GUILFORD (dau. of Paul GUILFORD and Mary BURT); he d. 10 Oct. 1847 VT.
Joseph served in the Rev. War:DAR Patriot Index, Centennial Ed. (Wash., D.C., 1990), Part III, p. 2870: "SWINNERTON, Joseph: b. 10-5-1761 MA d 1847 VT m Lucy Guilford Pvt MA PNSR [pensioner]"
This Joseph was a bro. of my direct ancestor JamesSWINNERTON, who md. Eleanor GUILFORD, a sister of Lucy GUILFORD who md. Joseph.
While I have info. on my James' children, neither Don nor I has info. on any children of Joseph & Lucy. Thus I can't helpconnect to your g-g'father Andrew.
Given that Joseph is documented as res. VT, it strengthens the conjecture that my James may also have lived in VT, near his bro. (whether or not they were b. there), at some point bef. James' removal to Delaware Co., OH, by 1818.So Joseph (or maybe yet another sibling of theirs in VT) may be your SWINERTON.
