This is the information I have about Catherine Symonds as compiled by Charles Shedd in 1923. Catherine's father John Symonds was born in England about 1615. His first wife's name was Mary. John married a second time, her name was Elizabeth. John spent much of his time in England going back and forth so very little is known about him. Children of John and Elizabeth were, Catherine (b.1632 Salem) Ruth (b. about 1633: d.May 22,1670),James (b.about 1633), Samuel (b. 1637/38 d. Aug 14, 1722 Boxford Middleton, Mass.) Catherine married Jacob Towne June 26, 1659 in Salem. Jacob was the son of Joanna Blessing. Jacob's sister Rebecca was tried and hung as a witch in salem. The hill on which she was hung in now known as Witches's Hill. Catherine and Jacob had one child, John.
