Karen-I have a lot of information for you! This branch of my family tree was a mystery to me as well about a year ago, but since then I have learned so much!I'd be happy to share documents, pictures and other information with you as I gather it.We are family! Was your grandfather Stefan Szumlinski?
A quick summary:The town of our common ancestors was Zuromin, and the parish was Lubowidz.Josef Szumlinski and Leokadja (Rasztemborska b. 1853) were married there in about 1870.They had eight children, my great grandmother Eufemia (1871), Helen (1876), Josef (1877), Stanislawa (1884), Stefan, Benjamin (1891), Kaszimerz, and Mania (Mary).I have birth records for those with dates. The children all immigrated to Buffalo New York and Hamilton, Ontario over the period of 1891 and 1907.Leokadja came to Canada after her husband passed away.I have several of the ship maniests for the family, but not all.
I am currently searching the records from Lubowidz and have gone back farther in Leokadja's family. Her parents were Antoni Rajnold Rasztemborski (b. 1830) and Maryanna Barbara Jeszewska.I have their marriage record of 1851.Antoni's parents were Antoni Rasztemborski and Marianna Bolestow.Maryanna's parents were Jakob Jeszewski and Antonina Gumowski. Some of these names are questionable because of the difficult handwriting to decipher.
I will send you what I have in an email.I hope you enjoy this information and share anything that you find as well!
