I'm trying to trace a family group living in the Hackney area in the 1800s. Henry Tagg (b. Hackney c.1812), a farrier/blacksmith, married Mary (b. Hackney c.1815, died March 1882, Hackney). They are known to have two sons William (b.1847) and Thomas (c.1849) and a granddaughter, Mary Killingbank (spelling varies). It is possible the Mary K's mother was also a Mary. 1881 census of Cassland Road, S. Hackney lists Thomas and Susan Denby, Mary Tagg (sister) and Mary Killingback (niece - though age gap suggests more likely great-niece). Possibly Mary Tagg's maiden name was therefore Denby, unless she was related to Susan Denby. I've yet to trace Henry/Mary's marriage and births, and the Denbys are equally elusive. Can anyone help?
