I am looking for information about a retailer named C.A. Taliaferro who was in business in the US around 1840-1860 (a more specific location unknown).
I have a table spoon that was made around 1860. It is silverplated (12 pennyweight). The back of the spoon is marked CA Taliaferro. In those days the retailer's name was marked on the back. I intend to give this spoon to my husband (a Taliaferro) and would like to include some/any information about the maker. Does any one know anything about this person?
The spoon is unremarkable, a traditional pattern, clearly American made, better than common quality. I've posted a picture of the spoon and the mark on a cutlery web site. Thank you.
