I am searching for information on Lt. Francis Taliaferro whose daughter, Sarah, married John McKinney.Evidently, John McKinney served under Lt. Taliaferro during the Revolutionary War and later married Sarah Taliaferro.
After the War John McKinney may have been appointed Lt. Colonel of the State Militia of the District of Columbia but when and how that may have happened I am unsure.
Their son, John Taliaferro McKinney married Sarah Augusta Mayo, was a lawyer in Brookville, IN, and was later appointed to the Indiana Supreem Court.
Justice Taliaferro died in his early 30's without children.
Lt. Col. John McKinney and his wife Sarah Taliaferro McK had two daughters before John T. McK and two after.

If this info is right, there is quite a connection between the Taliaferro family and the Lt. Col. John Mck clan.Cousins marrying cousins?
I'd really appreciate any help getting a better understanding of how thses people met, fought, and married.
