"The Mount" in Caroline Co., VA. 1700-1750

By Peter Sandlund January 19, 2009 at 07:47:27

Can any researcher help identify the exact location of the Mount, the Taliaferro family home? As the Caroline Co. records are lost, I can only deduct from information gathered from the early tax lists that the Mount was located on the Taliafero lands in the northeast corner of Caroline County (Beteeen Port Royal and the Essex county line.) Can anyone confirm that this is the correct location, and, if possible, further refine the exact location?
I do not believe that the Mount was locted on the lands in the northwest cormer of the county. This was the "Snow Creek" plantation, most of which turned out to be located in Spotsylvania Co.
