Richard TALIAFERRO The Pirate b ABT 1665 Gloucester VA d 1715 Richmond,Va + Sarah Martha Wingfield abt 1694 d 1718 dau/o John Wingfield & Martha
Richard Taliaferro was a ship captain and was in London at the time Cadwallader Jones was there angling for a position in the Barbados (read Bahamas since Nassau was involved) where be became the Royal Governor. Richard was also, there serving on the Court of that Colony at one time. He met and md Sarah Wingfield about 1694, the only child of Martha and John Wingfield of the islands. The Wingfields have a world-wide family association that maintains a data base in Dallas TX and a full-time genealogist in England.

So would Richard had time to have a son born without wedding the gal before he md to Martha Sarah Wingfield I guess thats the million dollar question. If they were on the same boat before he married looks like its a good possibility but how to prove it?? have to probably find some living desc from Richard and this Tolliver Craig to see if they would match up that would bring some proof or not.
this is the info I have on Tolliver Craig and if he was born around 1704 as 3rd child of Richard Taliaferro there are 2 kids before him so just don't know. This proves more to pointing to the John Craig as his father it would seem and not Richard?
>>My family descends from Jane Taliaferro (born abt 1681-1683) whomarried John Craig (born about 1680.) I have unverified info that they were married in Scotland in 1703. This is absolutely all I know about them, and all the data is from unconfirmed sources. The son Taliaferro Craig (b. abt 1704)married Lucy Mary (Polly) Hawkins (b. about 1716.) They had 11-12children.
