My earliest known ancestor is Micajah who may or may not be a descendant of the Talleys of 1689.1689 is however the earliest records containing the name Talley in what was later a part of Hanover County.
The first record is of "Jno Talle" who was included in a long list of property owners who were to procession their land under order of the Vestry of St Peter's Parish.
The other record states:
John son to William Tally bap' ye 24 of Octo., 1689.
St Peter's Parish was later divided after which the Talleys Land fell in St Paul's Parish. The names listed closest to John on the list were also the neighbors of William Talley in the next processioning records from 1708 in St Paul's Parish. The relationship between William whose newborn son was baptized and John the property owner is unknown.
This John is apparently never again mentioned in Hanover. He was apparently gone by 1704 when the "Rent Rolls" were made.
William's son John was listed as a landowner next to William in 1711.The only descendants of William that can be verified by the paper trail are the descendants of Billey Talley born 1756 to John's grandson Nathaniel Jr.A DNA testor who is a descendant of Billy through a child other that Nathaniel is needed to determine if Micajah is related to this family or not.A supposed descendant through Nathaniel has tested and does not match.Unfortunately this didn't help as their are three Nathaniels born in Virginia who were the right age to be Billey's son.On died in Hanover before 1850, one lived in Meckenburg amoung the Talley's of Amelia (the testor) the other lived in Logan County KY.
