I would like to hear from anyone descended from John and Sarah Tarburton (also listed as Tarbotton/Tarbotson) who married in Knaresborough 19 Jan 1819. Their children were Mary ( m. Jonathan Mitchell 1848), John (m. 1.Sarah Hillam 1847,2. Jane Howcroft 1869), Elizabeth, Samuel (m. Mary Ann Hodgson 1850), Sarah (m. Henry Smith 1850), William (m. Nancy Brook 1851), Ann, Hannah (m. David Garside 1870), James (m.1.Martha Bradshaw 1859, 2. Elizabeth ? 1880), Richard Henry (m. Martha Holroyd 1854), Henry (m. Martha Hanson 1859), Joseph (m. Emily ? 1861), George (m. 1872), Emma, Jane (m ? 1867) and Christopher Thorp (m. Susannah Hewitt 1871).
John's wife, Sarah's maiden name was Thorp and she had three brothers that I know of, Thomas, Christopher and Stephen. Her mother was also called Sarah.
The family moved to Bradford in 1842 where they all became involved in the spinning/weaving industry, most of them leaving school once they turned 10 in order to work, but as they got older they took on various professions, with even some of the unmarried girls earning their living as seamstresses and laundresses.
Hoping to hear from anyone interested in this family.
