I am a hotel historian researching publicans and innkeepers for a book to be published on the subject in the Illawarra region of NSW Australia. I am researching a Michael Tarpey who hosted two pubs at Clifton on the NSW South Coast early last century. Michael was the publican of the Imperial Hotel at Clifton from 1901 to 1904. From the Imperial he became the last licensee of the Clifton Inn, across the road, between the years 1905 to 1911 when it closed. He died in one of the guest room beds beside his wife one night at the Imperial Hotel Clifton aged 69 in December 1913 while on holidays from Sydney. He is buried in the nearby Scarborough/Wombarra cemetary. Can anyone help with additional information on this Michael Tarpey. As far as I know, he had no children.
