My ggmother was Louise Victoria Tatman, d/o Jesse Tatman and Barbra Ella Ankrom.Jesse was the son of William Thomas Tatman and Nancy Turner, so we're related. Here is other information I have on their ancestors:William Thomas Tatman was the son of Isaiah Tatman b. 1814 Allegany Co. MD and Clarissa Moore b. abt 1818 Allegany Co. MD, died 1850 in Vinton Co. OH.Isaiah then married Lucinda Wolf.Isaiah was the son of Thomas Tatman and Margaret N. [probably Nancy] House. It is unknown who Thomas's father was, some speculate Benjamin Tatman, but the Benjaming they talk about was his brother, not father.Margaret House comes from a fascinating family tree - rather than put it all here see this link:
Nancy Turner, the wife of William Thomas Tatman, was the daughter of Joseph Turner who was b. 1803 in Ky [probably Knox Co.]. Joseph Turner's wife was Rachel ? who was born in Tennessee.Joseph died between 1850 and 1855 and Rachel remarried to Thomas Foreacre.Thomas Foreacre's first wife was LeRuehoma Tatman, one of Isaiah Tatman's sisters.Joseph Turner was the son of George Turner and Mary "Polly" Johnston/Johnson.George married Mary "Polly" Johnston in 1801 according to Knox Co. Ky marriage records. He was on the Knox Co. Ky tax rolls in 1801 along with William Turner, who is likely his father or brother. There were six Johnson males on the tax list in 1801: James, William, David, Thomas, Daniel and Joseph, so one of these was probably Mary Polly's father.[Other surnames of families on the 1800-1810 tax lists in Knox Co Ky who also came to the Hocking Co./Ross Co. OH area later were: Brittain, Cox, Comer, Dixon, Dean, Loe/Lowe and others]George Turner was on the census for Hocking Co. OH in 1820.He died between 1830 and 1840, but his wife Mary "Polly" (Johnston) lived to an old age - dying sometime after the 1860 US Census. In the History of Knox Co. Ky, William Turner and John Turner Sr. are listed as being Revolutionary War veterans from Virginia. Also, the Johnson/Johnston family that was in Knox Co. Ky early 1800's was very prominent.Thomas Johnston was a Revolutionary War veteran from NC and was a tavern keeper licensed in 1800. He was also a founder of the Knox Co. Academy in 1808.James Johnston was a judge and a county commissioner.David Johnston was a tavern keeper and a captain in the militia in 1810 [along with Hugh Allison, the brother of Thomas Allison/Ellison who moved to Vinton Co OH and was Archibald Ankrom's grandfather] All of these Johnstons may be the sons of Col. William Johnston and Elizabeth Cave of Virginia.Elizabeth was related to the Benjamin Cave who was a preacher and who eventually came to the Hocking Co. Oh area.See http://www.bellcountypubliclibraries.org/crm/ky/knox/decker.htmlhttp://www.bellcountypubliclibraries.org/crm/ky/knox/decker.html for much of this information.I'm working on more, please email me.
