ARLYN TAVIS married in Minnesota, moved to Washington or lived in Washington (or somewhere else) and married in Washington.
Anyone know the whereabouts of any TAVIS-GOLDEN descendants in King or other northwest areas or their possible ancestors from MN or from the south?
Ultimately looking for info on Frederick Golden or any Giles families that live(d) in the Holland/Pipestone Minn area. Son Allen settled in Concrete, Skagit Co, WA for a few years in 1920's. Depression set in and moved south until the dust bowl days and move to OR.
Daughter Hazel who married Arlyn Tavis moved to Seattle area. Unknown if her brother Allen settled in this area first (disembarked at Bremerton) or stayed because of sister Hazel and family.
Allen and Hazel's father, Fredrick Golden m Jeanette Giles in mid-later 1800's. Children born in 1890's +/-.
Jeanette's parents: Edwin and Anna Elizabeth (Pennock)Giles. Jeanette/Nettie divorced Fred Golden and married ? Garthwaite. Story goes that Fred Golden worked on the railroad in 1890's and family ended up in Kalispell MT. He 'abandoned' family (so the story still goes) for another woman with 5 children and Jeanette brought the kids back to Pipestone Co. MN using Fred's railroad employee pass before the railroad company knew she wasn't his dependent any longer. (Not completely clear to me, either!)
Her brother/sis-in-law: William and Lena (Huibregtse) Giles. Know that Fred's son Allen lived with William and Lena for a time before joining the Navy for WWI. No info on Hazel's residence during that time.
No data on Fred's family.
Fred/Jeanette's kids: Allen Giles Golden b 1894, and Hazel _____ Golden b ?, m Arlyn(?) Tavis.
Hazel Tavis' family moved to Wash State. Known son: Wilbur Tavis. Born 1910's. Possibly other children based on vague statement in a letter of 1920's.
Based on a diary entry of Hazel Tavis' sister-in-law (Beulah Golden), "JIM" Tavis spoke with her about flowers and birds and odors of the sweet south, as she was from Arkansas and he from ? (somewhere down that way.)No clue if he was a brother or father, etc., of Arlyn.
Allen's family moved everywhere, including WA, AR, & TX, but ended up in Klamath Falls, Oregon in 1936. He married Vivian "Beulah" Thompson of Ozone, Johnson, Arkansas.
I met Goldie Giles (one of the Gilesrelatives) in Pipestone back in 1973, but being a dumb kid, I just wanted to get going while my parents talked to her. Now that she's passed on, I'm trying to learn what I didn't have time for...before. Too late we learn?
