Apparently the same Edward Taylor was listed as transported 7 & 26 Jun 1666 (Northumberland Co VA) and May 1667 (Surry Co VA) -- with an Ambrose Taylor.
“Ed. Taylor” in one Surry Co VA land patent: “Jno. Rawlins & Michaell Mettaney (Mettany), 332 acs. Surry Co., 10 May 1667, p. 58. At the head of Up. (Upper) Chipoakes Cr., beg. On S. side of the W. br. &c. to Mr. Stephens’ land . . . Trans. of 7 pers: George Leads, Hum. Watkins, Robt. Breed, Ed. Taylor, Mary Brett, Ambrose Taylor, Tho. Dutton” (Foley, page 91).
Four people in that list, including Edward Taylor, were in two previous lists: patent to James Hawley, N'umberland Co VA, 7 Jun 1666, 14 persons including “Tho. Dutton, Hump. Watkins, ‘Edward Taylor,’, Ambrose Taylor”; and, patent to James Hawley, W'moreland Co VA, 26 Jun 1666, 14 persons (the same list as on 7 Jun 1666 with the names in the same order, including “Ed. Taylor”).
All of those 10 persons were also those transported for the patent to Richard Drew, 24 Apr 1667, Surry Co VA, 800 acres on Mr. Allins path, extending upon the land of Richard Harrison (which was the next patent recorded after the Jno. Rawlins & Michaell Mettaney patent):
Ffran Phillips / Arthur Land / Jno Tomkins / Joseph Edgcome* Nich Pearce / Geo Low / Rich Seaborne / Ralph Pooles* Wm Herbirt / Saml Potter / Wm Long* / Mary (?)* Tho Morgan / Giles Walkers / Martin Parry* / Sisfa Nottaday* *Those not in the Hawley lists.
If Edward Taylor in those transported persons’ lists was the Edward Taylor of Surry Co VA, then who was Ambrose Taylor and what happened to him?
